RENEWAL OF VOWS

WELCOME

Dearly beloved, I would like to welcome you all for coming here this evening.  We have gathered in this beautiful setting where the sky is our only ceiling, the earth our only floor, and the horizons our only walls to celebrate and bless.  Tonight (bride and groom) have invited us here to celebrate as they rededicate themselves to each other as husband and wife.  (bride and groom), thank you for granting me the honor and privilege of standing before you tonight and being part of this very blessing-filled occasion.

(bride and groom), 4 years ago in a small ceremony, with great joy you pledged your love and commitment to each other.  As you know, a loving relationship does not exist in a vacuum.  Your family and friends first showed you how to love, helped you grow, and supported you when you found each other.  May they continue to support and love you as you support and love.  Tonight you stand before me and your beloved family and friends to reaffirm your commitment to each other, and to once again promise to love, honor, and comfort each other in sickness and in health, in plenty and in want, and in joy and in sorrow, throughout your days together.

WORD OF PRAYER

In recognition of the power and purpose of this blessing-filled event, please join me in a word of prayer. “Father God, I thank You for this loving couple standing before me this evening. Make them rich with your peace so they may enjoy the comforts and share the experiences, insights and lessons of life.  May they continue to grow individually and as a supportive and loving couple.  In your holy name, we give thanks and praise!”

ADDRESS

(bride and groom), real love is something beyond the warmth and glow, beyond the excitement and romance of being deeply in love.  It is caring as much about the welfare and happiness of your marriage partner as about your own happiness alone.  Real love is not total absorption in each other.  It is looking outward in the same direction Love makes burdens lighter because you divide them.  It makes joys more intense because you share them.  It makes you stronger so you can reach out and become more involved with life in ways you dared not risk alone.  (bride and groom), you have created this kind of love over the last 4 years.  May you continue to embody this mature, long-lasting kind of love.

RENEWAL OF VOWS

(bride and groom), it is now time for you to make your vows to each other.  (bride), please make your vows to (groom).

(groom), please make your vows to (bride).

SAND CEREMONY

(bride and groom), there are four individual vessels of sand before you.  Each represents the four loving and unique individuals standing before me.  As you pour your vessels of sand into the family vessel, remember that each layer supports the next just as you support each other.  And as these grains of sand intermingle with each other, no grain of sand can be separated from the next just as you are intermingled with each other and lovingly joined together.

BLESSING

(bride and groom), 4 years ago, you entered this marriage with hope, commitment, and a newfound love.  Tonight you stand before us reaffirming a commitment that has strengthened you as individuals and taught you about the power of love in your lives.  It  is a honor and a blessing for each of us to be here with you tonight celebrating your love and commitment to each other and to your family.

May you continue to find delight in each other, and may your love continue to grow and to nurture you all your days together.

I wish you the strength to continue to keep the vows you have made and the good future to find ever greater tenderness, joy, and comfort in the love you share.  Support each other, your marriage and your family with patience, understanding, and honesty.

May your home continue to be a place of peace and health, filled with blessings and joy.

May you endlessly delight one another.  May you love and fulfill each other always.  Go in peace.  Live in joy.  Thanks be to God.  Congratulations and God bless you!

You may now kiss!
